Orridi di Uriezzo

The Uriezzo Ravines are deep canyons dug into the granite by energetic waterfalls, progressively retreating, forming part of the ancient system of streams that flowed on the bottom of the glacier that ran through the Antigorio and Formazza Valleys. Subsequently, with the retreat of the glaciers, the trend of the hydrographic network changed significantly. Composed of a series of large subcircular cavities separated by narrow and tortuous tunnels, the peculiarity of the Uriezzo Ravines consists precisely in the fact that the stream that shaped them now no longer runs through these narrow gorges, making it possible to walk easily inside them.

You can reach the Orridi from Vecchio Scarpone by walking about 40 minutes along the thousand-year-old mule track travelled since the early Middle Ages which begins near the Parish Church of S. Gaudenzio di Baceno, up to a detour on the left which will shortly take you to the entrance to the Ravines; or reaching the small church of S.Lucia in Uriezzo by car (about 5 minutes from the hotel) and continuing on foot for about 300m.
